Robinson was arrested Tuesday night for driving under the influence and fleeing police. The wide receiver was being held in Nicollet County Jail here and was expected to be charged later Wednesday. An officer observed Robinson’s blue BMW “traveling southbound on Highway 169 at a high rate of speed” at 10:45 p.m. Tuesday night, a release from the Saint Peter Police Department said. The officer attempted to stop the car but Robinson refused to pull over and continued moving south, where a second officer clocked him on radar speeding. The officers pursued Robinson southbound on Highway 169 before “the pursuit was picked up by Mankato Department of Public Safety Officers and the car was eventually stopped.” Officers then took Robinson into custody “without further incident for fleeing police in a motor vehicle and DUI.” Robinson, 26, was released by the Seattle Seahawks in June 2005 and subsequently checked into a 28-day treatment program for alcoholism. He was suspended four games for violating the NFL’s substance abuse policy in the 2004 campaign and was also suspended two games by the Seahawks for missing team meetings. That didn’t stop the Vikings from signing Robinson last September. He caught 22 passes for 347 yards and one touchdown in 14 games last season. A first-round pick in 2001, Robinson set career highs with 78 catches for 1,240 yards and five touchdowns with Seattle in 2002. |
