Seneca man drives around barricade, nets DUI

A DRIVER, fell on a barricade Old Stage Road, the DUI was approximately 11:45 hours Friday.

Speeding Nets Palmer DUI Charg

Washington Redskins rookie defensive end Sterling Palmer was arrested and charged with driving under the influence and refusal to take a blood or breath test after being stopped for speeding early Tuesday morning in Ashburn, Va. Palmer was stopped for speeding at 2:11 a.m. Tuesday on Ashburn Village Boulevard, said Darryl DeBow, spokesman for the Loudoun County Sheriff's Department. Montana Targets Drunks With DUI Wagon

State police have a new weapon against drinking and driving in Montana _ a big, black DUI wagon. The Montana Highway Patrol just took delivery of the so-called Mobile Impaired Driving Assessment Center late last month and hopes to start using it by the middle of summer. The vehicle has its own testing station, an Intoxilyzer 8000, refrigeration for storing blood evidence, computers for running background checks and other conveniences normally only found at a police station. Special courts could cut DUI toll, say advocates

People who drink and drive in Washington state could find themselves winding up in courts specifically set up to handle DUIs. The Washington Traffic Safety Commission is recommending that the state create courts specifically designed to deal with drunken drivers -- much like drug courts, which have proved to be successful. The idea would allow judges, prosecutors and defense attorneys specializing in DUI law to assess defendants for problem drinking. With court-ordered treatment, the state has an opportunity to reduce the number of repeat offenders, backers say. As in drug court, people who wind up in DUI court would have the opportunity to
