Security chief at Dulles faces DUI charge

Airport police took the director, Charles Brady, into custody early Thursday after an officer witnessed him driving erratically, said Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority spokeswoman Tara Hamilton. He was released Thursday afternoon, Hamilton said.

Brady is the top security director at the airport, working under the jurisdiction of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Transportation Security Administration.

Brady was pulled over about 1 a.m. EST Thursday near the airport in northern Virginia outside the nation’s capital. Dulles earlier had been the scene of a security operation involving a British Airways 747 jetliner.

On Wednesday evening, fighter jets escorted British Airways Flight 223 to Dulles after authorities said the names of about a dozen passengers seemed to match those on a terrorist watch list.

The flight was taken to a secure area of the runway, where the FBI interviewed the passengers in question and determined that they posed no threat, officials said.

The same flight was canceled Thursday and Friday because of security concerns, an airline representative said.
