A scooter-riding Mickey Rourke was arrested Thursday on suspicion of driving under the influence. Rourke, star of “Sin City,” “Diner” and “9 1/2 Weeks,” was arrested at 4:20 a.m. and booked at the Miami-Dade County Jail, said Janelle Hall, a jail spokeswoman. He was released on a $1,000 bond, she said. A Miami Beach Police report said Rourke made a U-turn with a red light and then swerved several times while on a green scooter. He had a flushed face and bloodshot, watery eyes, his speech was slurred, and he had a strong odor of alcohol on his breath, the report said. “I’m not drunk, I didn’t even drink that much,” the report quoted Rourke as saying. Rourke, 51, allegedly failed field-sobriety tests before being taken to headquarters. Police raid Winehouse’s home in London LONDON (AP) — Police raided Amy Winehouse’s London home, but the singer’s spokesman said she was not there at the time, and drugs were not involved. Photographs printed yesterday in British newspapers showed police officers using a crowbar to force open the door of the singer’s home. “The only thing I can tell you is that it has nothing to do with drugs and that Amy is fine and she has not been charged or arrested,” spokesman Shane O’Neill said. The Metropolitan Police said there had been “police activity” at the house on Thursday as part of an investigation into allegations of perverting the course of justice. British media reported that the investigation concerned Winehouse’s husband, Blake Fielder-Civil, who is due to stand trial next week on charges of assaulting a barman. Police said four men — two aged 25, one 22 and one 19 — had been arrested in connection with the investigation. The force would not say whether Fielder-Civil, 25, was among them. Osmond family appears on Winfrey’s show CHICAGO (AP) — Despite the death of their patriarch, more than 100 members of George Osmond’s family filmed an episode of “The Oprah Winfrey Show” because they thought he would have wanted it that way. “We talked about it and my father would want us all to be here,” Marie Osmond told Winfrey on the show, scheduled to be broadcast yesterday. “He loved his family.” George Osmond planned to travel to Chicago to tape the show before he died Tuesday at age 90 at his home in Provo, Utah, Marie Osmond told Winfrey. George Osmond had nine children, 55 grandchildren and 48 great-grandchildren. Alan, Wayne, Merrill and Jay Osmond first became famous as The Osmond Brothers, a barbershop quartet singing at Disneyland and on “The Andy Williams Show.” Donny Osmond joined the group at age 6 and later hosted “The Donny and Marie Show” with his sister. The youngest son, Jimmy Osmond, is also a performer. Marie Osmond is also a contestant on ABC’s “Dancing With the Stars.” |
