Pr. George’s Proposes DUI Victim Memorials

The Prince George’s County Council introduced legislation yesterday to install “Don’t Drink and Drive” signs at accident sites where someone has died at the hands of a drunk driver. The program, modeled after one in Colorado, would be the first in the Washington area to use public funds for roadside memorials to commemorate victims of drunk drivers and to raise public awareness of the dangers of drinking and driving. The signs would have one of two messages: “Don’t Drink and Drive” or “Don’t Do Drugs and Drive.” The victim’s name and age and the date of the accident would appear under those words. “We all drive along the road and we see these little crosses or floral arrangements … |
