A man suspected of drunk driving crashed into the center divider on the Riverside Freeway early Monday, triggering a chain-reaction accident that left five people injured and five vehicles demolished, the California Highway Patrol said. Lindsey, 23, of Yorba Linda was heading east on the freeway when he lost control of his pickup truck about 1 a.m. and veered into the center divider at Weir Canyon Road, CHP Officer Angel Johnson said. A suspected drunk driver was in jail Saturday after plowing his van into a busy Garden Grove intersection Friday night. The resulting chain-reaction collision injured seven people, including two children who were thrown from their vehicle. Police said the accident occurred on Harbor Boulevard at 9:44 p.m. when a van driven by Jose J. Escobar, 30, failed to stop as it approached a line of cars stopping for a red light at Chapman Avenue. Escobar's vehicle struck a van that then hit the back of another vehicle, which was propelled into a fourth vehicle, Garden Grove Sgt. Paul D. McInerny said. Source :

A Beverly Hills man with eight drunk-driving convictions narrowly escaped a murder conviction Wednesday for a 1998 fatal accident when a single holdout juror forced the panel to accept conviction on the lesser charge of manslaughter instead.
