Lawmaker Hopes To Revive Stricken Dui Blood Test

A lawmaker wants to close a gap left in the state’s drunken-driving law by a Pennsylvania Supreme Court ruling. Sen. D. Michael Fisher (R., Allegheny) yesterday proposed a revision that would continue to allow police up to three hours to have blood drawn from a DUI suspect. Agent Leigh Steinberg held in suspected DUI
Powerhouse sports agent Leigh Steinberg, who provided inspiration for the movie "Jerry Maguire," was arrested early Friday in Newport Beach on suspicion of drunk driving after he slammed his vehicle into three parked cars. The Cameron Crowe picture, starring Tom Cruise as a sports agent who is stricken with a conscience, is more than loosely based on the lifestyle of Steinberg, right down to the contents of his wallet. Gophers’ Ohnstad faces DUI charges.
The basketball future of Gophers guard Mitch Ohnstad is in jeopardy after his second drunken-driving arrest in 18 months. Ohnstad and his father, Jim, met with Gophers coach Dan Monson on Thursday morning after the coach learned of an August arrest in Ohnstad's hometown of Faribault, Minn. Monson would not comment on Ohnstad's future with the basketball team other than to say he hopes to announce a decision today. Man Arrives at DUI Hearing Drunk
Paul H. Zeigler, 45, of Glen Rock, appeared at a preliminary hearing at the Shrewsbury district court on March 26 for a DUI charge from December. Police said Zeigler appeared to be intoxicated at the hearing, according to police records. After his court appearance, Zeigler failed a portable breath test for alcohol and was taken into custody for a blood test, police said. The second test revealed that Zeigler's blood-alcohol level was twice the legal driving limit and he was charged with DUI, police said.
