Eve Pleads No Contest to DUI Case

Eve must wear an alcohol-detecting ankle bracelet for 45 days after pleading no contest Thursday to driving with a blood-alcohol level above the legal limit. The rapper-actress was not in Superior Court when her attorney entered the plea to a single misdemeanor count. Under the plea agreement, a second count of driving under the influence was dropped. An e-mail to her publicist, Amanda Silverman, was not immediately returned. Eve, whose real name is Eve Jihan Jeffers, was arrested early April 26 after her gold Maserati struck a center median on Hollywood Boulevard. Eve had faced a maximum sentence of six months in jail and a $1,000 fine. After her plea, she was sentenced to 36 months of probation and a $390 fine. With fees and restitution for repairs to the median, her bill could top $1,400. |

Pennington Pleads No Contest to DUI
Ty Pennington, host of ABC's "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition," pleaded no contest Friday in a misdemeanor drunken driving case. Pennington, 42, had been charged with two misdemeanor counts _ driving with a blood-alcohol level above the 0.08 percent limit and driving under the influence of alcohol. He pleaded no contest to the first count and the other count was dismissed, said Frank Mateljan, a spokesman for the city attorney's office.
