DUI Keeps DuBose at AA Bowie

itcher Eric DuBose, who was considered for the fifth spot in the Baltimore Orioles’ starting rotation during spring training, will likely remain in Class AA Bowie because of a pending DUI case that keeps him from pitching for Class AAA Ottawa. “Right now he’s there for the foreseeable future,” said Dave Stockstill, the Orioles’ minor league director. “We don’t have any news that he’s going anywhere different.” DuBose started the year with Ottawa but was unable to pitch in the team’s home games in Canada because of the DUI charge in Florida. He would need to get a “Minister’s permit,” similar to what Sidney Ponson received prior to making a start in Toronto earlier this year. DuBose is 1-2 with a 2.50 ERA for Bowie, and Stockstill said he isn’t suffering by pitching in Class AA. “Really Double-A is a good level in that a lot of players there go straight to the big leagues,” Stockstill said. |
